Designing of multi-functional sports complex in Sloka started with territory planning in 1999 when architects Juris Lasis, Eduards Beernaerts and Arnis Dimins won the competition of sketches. However, the actual building of spectator stands took place only in 2007. The main architectonic idea was to place all buildings and functions in one linear volume, which is constructively light and transparent and well-intergrated in Jurmala’s attractive environment. Spectators zone of the new stands with the impressive 13-meter roof [pārkare] is an open-air building, with heated cloak-rooms, ticket boxes and other service rooms located in the space under the spectator seats.
